Professor Hegedus is the founding Program Director for the Tufts Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in Phoenix, Arizona. Professor Hegedus was previously the Founding Chair of High Point University’s Department of Physical Therapy. He has authored over 85 peer reviewed publications, a textbook now in its second edition, and translated into five languages, and seven book chapters.
Dr. Hegedus has received multiple awards including the American Physical Therapy Association’s James A Gould Excellence in Orthopedic Teaching Award, and has been a 4x winner of the Excellence in Physical Therapy Teaching Award. Dr. Hegedus is a founder and director of Targeted Enhanced Athletic Movement, a community-based health and wellness program designed to improve athletic performance and prevent injury in active people.
In 2021 Professor Eric Hegedus, along with his colleagues published a scientific paper in the Sports Medicine Journal titled “Comprehensive Return to Competitive Distance Running a Clinical Commentary”, in this episode Professor Hegedus shares around return to run programs to ensure that the athlete is psychologically and physiologically ready to return to the demands of participation in sport and performance.
